Cruising World Nominates The Moorings 43.3 Monohull for Boat of the Year

Cruising World selected 21 of the finest boats as finalists for the 2009 Boat of the Year award. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the BOTY awards, and we are pleased to announce The Moorings 43.3 monohull, built by Benetau, was nominated for this prestigious award in the Special-Purpose category.
A panel of independent judges with extensive sailing experience will thoroughly review each boat by conducting a detailed assessment which includes both a dockside visit and a sea trial. The dockside visit consists of an extensive evaluation of the: layout, design, construction, systems installations, safety factors, and livability. Whereas the sea trials allow judges to get a hands on taste of sailing the boat. While at sea, judges also evaluate the: boat’s performance under power, perform anchoring tests, and emergency steering tests.
The Moorings 43.3 by Benetau is built for comfort and performance. The yacht’s spacious layout offers the latest in modern comforts, featuring shore power air-conditioning, flat screen TV/DVD Player, AUX inputs for MP3 players, and a barbecue grill. The sizeable saloon seats up to 8 and is filled with natural light from a panoramic sky light. The roomy galley features numerous work surfaces while the yacht’s 3 cabins and 3 heads hold an ideal passenger capacity of 6.
For a midsize yacht, it has many features of a much larger yacht with dual helm steering stations, color pivoting chart plotter, wind instruments, and autopilot in arm’s reach to provide ease of handling from either helm. The cockpit features a large folding table with dual helms for convenient access; it’s also protected by a bimini and dodger to add to the comfort under sail.
The BOTY award winners will be announced in the January issue of Cruising World, available on newsstands in mid-December.
