It is also recommended that you insert keywords in your domain name, or words that describe yourself or your occupation.  Deciding to change your website’s URL will confuse your visitors, so it’s wise to invest time up front creating a user-friendly name that will put your website on the path to success. 

Pick a Hosting Service

Hosting services keep your website up and running on the internet, so that users can access them. A lot of corporations will have their own private servers to host company websites, but many also subscribe to hosting companies. There are thousands of different web hosting companies on the web.  Some offer different features than others to persuade customers to select them, but the most important factor when choosing a host is its reliability. Traditionally, websites have been created using HTML coding, a language that is relatively simple to learn if one has the time and inclination.  However, over the past decade, more and more websites are turning to Flash.  Flash provides an immersive experience to website visitors, and is much more engaging than standard HTML . Knowing your competition allows you to figure out exactly what you can offer that others are not, and it clues you in to what customers are interested in.  Benchmarking is a very important element of web creation, and is not only limited to your website’s early stages.  Remain aware of what others are doing by continuing to benchmark as your website grows.  Go to search engines such as Google or Yahoo!, and search for terms relevant to your website.  Conduct a few searches, each with different keywords, since not everyone searches with the same terms.  You can also search for your competition by name, and gauge what sort of standards are being set for your niche.  Stay ahead of the game by following your competition closely and aiming to provide something more.

Using Keywords To Build Traffic To Your Website

Getting your site noticed by others is the goal behind this entire operation. It is much easier to express yourself clearly when you know who you’d like to be listening.  Envision your ideal business clientele, or website visitor, and imagine what they might expect to find when they visit you.  Will your visitors expect conversational, formal or technical language? Also consider what actions you’d like your visitors to perform, once they’ve been to your website. Do you want them to purchase products, leave contact information, or sign up for a service?  Once you understand exactly who your target market is, you can build a website with a clear focus, and tailor it so that it suits their unique needs and expectations.
